Summer Riding Tips
As summer is fast approaching it is important to ensure that you are well prepared for riding in the warmer weather.
To avoid dehydration and heat exposure I have a few helpful tips so that you and your child can have a great time riding in the sun this summer.
Bring along a water bottle -Make sure that you have a drink before your lesson. In warmer weather your instructor will offer you a chance to have a drink break during the lesson so that you and your child are able to rehydrate and keep cool.
Wear sunscreen - Protect yourself and your child from sun burn by applying sunscreen at least 20 minutes before your lesson. For best results try a water resistant sunscreen!
Wear suitable clothing -Wear a t-shirt with sleeves for ultimate protection from the sun, as well as from the wind. Wear long pants and covered in shoes for the best protection.
Wear sunglasses and a sunhat -I suggest that parents bring along sunglasses and a sun hat for your lessons outside for the best comfort and sun safety.
Ensure adequete nutrition -Before your lesson ensure you and your child have had a nutritious snack to boost energy levels and concentration.
Rest -Before your lesson take some time to sit and rest, allowing your child to relax and cool down before riding. After your lesson you are more than welcome to take a quiet seat and watch the lessons in the arenas.
I hope that these tips will help you stay comfortable during your lessons! Riding in warmer weather is great fun if you stay cool, hydrated and energised. Alyssa Hughes
